Recently, our 18 National girls traveled to Nevada and competed in the 31st Annual Las Vegas Classic. The team put up an outstanding fight and left the tournament as champions. In a write-up of the tournament, PrepVolleyball.com spotlighted the individual efforts of our team. Check it out:
In 18 Club, Blocksport 18 National, with its team full of athletes, won warmups for the championship match with TXPerformance 18 then won the first-place trophy, in three sets.
TXPerformance, behind hard-hitting April Robalin and Tayler Kennedy, surged to an early Game 1 lead, but Blocksport fought back to win behind the play of middle Bailey Foy and the southpaw smacks of Darria Williams. TXPerformance took Game 2, with help from Megan Martinez and Elyse Benavides and trailed only by 12-11 in Game 3 before Blocksport had one final push in it. A kill by Williams and ace serve by Delaney Price gave the Dallas-area team triple match point. It would need only one as Foy came through with a big block that set off the celebration and trophy dash.
